Tiger Bring Hope for Manas

The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest cat species in the world. Tigers are apex predators primarily preying on ungulates such as deer and bovids. They are territorial and generally solitary but social animals. They required large contiguous areas of habitat that support their prey requirement.

Tigers are among the most recognizable and popular of World's charismatic megafauna. They have featured prominently in ancient mythology, folklore and modern literature. The tiger is the national animal of Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and South Korea.

The tiger is an endangered species. Poaching for fur and body parts, destruction habitat simultaneously reduced the tiger population in wild.
The government of India gives much attention on conservation this big cats. There are 50 tiger reserves in India which is administered by National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). India is the home of 70% tiger population in the world. It is really amazing things that how the world second largest human populated country holds world largest share of Royal Bengal Tiger. Tiger reserves share 53,547 square kilometer area in the country.

There are four tiger reserves (Kaziranga, Nameri, Manas and Orang) situated in Assam. Where Manas was first tiger reserve declared in 1972. Manas has lots of ups and down history of tiger population. Because of dedicated efforts of different front Manas is now reviving. Recent tiger estimation gave much encouragement to conservation front.
The Transboundary Manas Conservation Area (TraMCA),  which covers Manas NationalPark in Indian side and Royal Manas National Park (RMNP) in Bhutan has recorded 50% increase in tiger population than 2011-2012 estimation. This is really bringing hope for conservationist like me and many other.

Love Manas and Save Manas for Humankind   !!!
